We live in a world where dependence on anything other than ourselves is hard to swallow. We tend to be very proud of our independence and ability to care for our own needs. The psalmist David reminds us that we need to depend on God. "Trust Him and he will take care of you. Delight in Him and he will give you the desires of your heart." But oh, those words are so hard to practice. I want to take out my planner and chart the way to achieve my desires. I want to build networks that ensure my success. I...I...I... It really isn't about me. As a follower of God, I have already laid everything down at the foot of the cross, including all those plans. I have to humble myself and trust in Him. This entry reminds me that I cannot do it all by myself. I need Him and He is there to help me.

"Depend on the Lord" is a Bible journaling based on the text of Psalm 37:3-6. This entry is printed out on cardstock and colored with watercolor pencils. I used a blending brush to blend the areas giving me darker shadows. After trimming it and rounding the corners, I washi-taped it in my Bible.
