Last week I made some thank you cards for the teachers at our church. It was the end of the quarter and I like sending out a special card to remind them how special they are to our church families. I had just painted this picture of Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in my art class so I decided to photograph it and use it for the cards. My creation was so stinking cute, I couldn't resist posting it to Facebook. One comment led to another, and I decided to make some up to sell to friends and families and Etsy customers. So yesterday, as I loaded everything up on Etsy, I thought about some other drawings I have stashed away. Many years ago, I sold note cards at craft shows and I still have some of those left. I decided to scrap a few more cards from those and I'll be debuting those in the next few days. In the meantime, Shine! Blue Mountain Sky is a new novel being released by Mantle Rock Publishing later this month. Author Cyn Taylor has crafted an inspirational fiction set in the Great Smoky Mountains of east Tennessee. Since east Tennessee is where my roots are deeply planted, it was a pleasure to create a cover for her depicting the mountains of that area. Here's a little teaser from the back cover. After four years Brianna Walters was finally making headway in forcing her late husband’s ghost to the recesses of her mind rather than the forefront of her heart. She had immersed herself into her company, deciding that no man could replace Grant. That was until she met Vic Andrews. Vic stormed into her present and was charming his way into her future. Something about him reminded her of Grant. At least that was what Bree told herself. Vic’s personality, initially, seemed to be the exact opposite of Grant’s but in looks he had so many similar characteristics Bree began struggling to keep them separated in her mind; even to the point of calling Vic by Grant’s name at a most inopportune moment. Now another company wanted to initiate a merger with hers and the owner was pushing but reclusive. Bree began having feelings of being watched and followed; sensations that materialized into an actual attack that left Bree feeling vulnerable, as well as suspicious of Vic. She wondered if God had grown tired of her rebellion and truly abandoned her. Would she be able to cope with the turmoil that entered her life with Vic, or would Vic’s demands that she erases her husband’s memories forever from her mind and heart and choose him drive a wedge between them that only God could dissolve? And could Bree make that decision before God allowed Vic to be taken out of her life as well? On a very permanent basis! Medusa's Hands by Monica Mynk released this week from Mantle Rock Publishing. This is the second book in the Goddess to Daughter series. This is a Contemporary Romantic Suspense book involving drugs, sex trafficking, and alcoholism. It shows how lives can be changed when a person decides to follow Christ. Here's the teaser for you! Twenty-eight year old waitress, Megan Carter, dreams of a different life, far away from Zach Allen, who’s wanted to date her since high school. Zach truly loves Megan, but he can’t let go of his party boy persona long enough to show her he’s serious. As soon as she graduates beauty school, she plans to walk away and leave him behind for good. When Zach’s stepsister Larissa disappears, her teenage daughter Kelsey shows up on Megan’s doorstep asking to crash for a few days. Convinced Larissa is in danger, Megan begrudgingly enlists Zach’s help. She starts to trust him and opens her heart, but before long she realizes he’s still struggling for sobriety and clinging to his past mistakes. How can she forgive him when he refuses to change? Will Kelsey's dad find her and lure her into his life of sex trafficking and degradation? Can Megan and Zach overcome their differences and help Kelsey? Will they find their own path to happiness, find Larissa, and stop Kelsey's dad before it's too late? Medusa's Hands is available on Amazon. AND....there's a SALE!
Has it really been that long since my last blog post? If you know me, you know that I'm terrible at anything requiring regular, planned timing. I get great things accomplished when I'm pressed for time. Seems like my free spirit needs to be tied down by deadlines and pressure to get things done. So what have I been up to? Well, I've created a couple of book covers, did some freelance typesetting of a book series for print, jump-started my dormant watercolor painting vibe, went to the Pentatonix Concert with my daughter and friends, AND still managed to go to work and publish a couple of books for Mantle Rock. Whew! I've had the opportunity to work with two great authors over the last month, Cyn Taylor and Kristin Neva. I had a great time working on their book covers and I will be posting more details about their books and publication times in another post. Sandra Robbins contacted me to do typesetting for a series of print books she was self publishing. Her agent had had covers created and was publishing ebooks, but Sandra wanted to publish print books as well. This romantic suspense series has been been a blast to put together and I've enjoyed getting to know Sandra better. If you are an author who self publishes (through CreateSpace or some other forum) and would like to have a more polished, professional look to your book, feel free to drop me an email. I offer typesetting services for both print books and ebooks. I also offer services like creating chapter headings and title pages. Savannah, Juan, Madeline & Donnely keep me young at heart! Those four along with Donnely's mom, Beth, made up our crew for the Pentatonix Concert. We had loads of fun and the music was AWESOME! Beth did our chauffeuring and got us out of downtown Nashville in record time after the concert.
Hope you have a great day! Hopefully, I'll get back to more regular posts!
The Lord's Prayer. This is actually where my Bible journaling began. I was searching for a coloring page for my Wednesday night Bible class of elementary school kids to help them memorize the Lord's Prayer. My search led me to lots of different websites but I ended up, as I often do, on Pinterest. It was during this search that I ran into my first Bible Journaling page. I was mesmerized by the lovely art and intrigued by the prospect of a new Bible study method. I didn't find my coloring page. I ended up creating my own as I sometimes do. That coloring page then morphed into my first Bible Journaling entry. Oh, yeah, somewhere in there I found a journaling Bible on sale at Family Christian Bookstore. I already had tons of color pencils, water color pencils and water colors. So I only needed to pick up some gel matte medium to prep my page and I was off to the races. I've been very intentional about my journaling and because of that, I've only done about 1-2 entries a month. But I am enjoying it immensely and the new journey has kick-started my daily Bible Study in ways that I couldn't have imagined before. Isn't it great when you see "His will being done" in your life?
I guess all I have left to tell you is that this template is also available in my Etsy Store.

Keeper of Trust is the second book in the Carty Sisters Series by Mary Kay Tuberty. It's a wonderful story of Irish immigrant Julia Carty and her new life in St. Louis. We were introduced to Julia in the first book, Keeper of Coin and her "flighty" personality was a nice contrast to her calmer sister, Anne. I'm looking forward to diving into this book as soon as it is available from Mantle Rock Publishing on April 22. Here's a teaser from the back cover.
Julia Carty resolved that she must change her ways. Her father had called her “flighty” and sent her younger sister to America ahead of her. Her beloved Martin referred to her as his “beautiful butterfly, flitting from one adventure to another.” She had come to St. Louis in 1861 at the start of the Civil War. In the intervening years, she worked hard at the church mission and at Dempsey’s Bakery to prove she had put aside her childish habits. With the arrival of her young sister Lizzie though, she realized she had not contributed her share to the immigration fund. She left it to her sisters Anne and Kate to save the majority of passage money to bring the children out of Ireland’s poverty. When Martin suffered a life-threatening accident and faced disabilities that would alter his life forever, he needed her love and support. When additional tragedy struck the Cartys, her dear family turned to her for strength and encouragement. Had she matured, at last? Would she be capable of sustaining them all?
